At Smitha Middle School we observe standard school attire. These clothing guidelines allow for some student choice while observing a manner of dress that is free from distractions. The expectation is that Smitha students abide by the dress code every day. Designated casual attire days will always be announced and guidelines will be provided.

Standard School Attire Guidelines:
Tops:
- Collard shirts must be worn at all times
- Shirts can be short or long sleeved polos or button downs
- Colors allowed are red, white, black, and grey
- No emblems or logos larger than a quarter, and only on the front chest area
- Cardigans, sweaters, sweatshirts, and hoodies may be worn over collard shirts and must be red, white, black,or grey
- Colors allowed are tan/khaki, black
- Pants, shorts, skirts, capris, jumpers
- Shorts/skirts should be no shorter than 3 inches above the knee
- A belt should be worn if needed, and appropriate for the garment
- No jeggings, leggings, joggers, or athletic pants
Shoes must be closed toe
Misc.
- Sunglasses, hats, visors, bandannas, or athletic headgear should not be worn in the building (unless permitted by administration due to special circumstances i.e. a special "hat day")
- Girls are permitted to wear hair accessories as long as they are not distracting to the learning environment
- All clothing items should be free of rips/holes
